Oaks Cairns Hotel is seeking a skilled Cook to join our kitchen team in Cairns City, QLD. This part-time role focuses on delivering consistently high-quality meals and supporting daily kitchen operations.

You will prepare ingredients, cook dishes to menu standards, maintain hygiene and plating, and assist with clean-up and safety. Flexible weekend shifts are required, with a minimum 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 12 months experience as a cook or in a similar kitchen role.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Job Description

Oaks Cairns Hotel are looking for skilled and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team on a part-time basis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to a consistently high standard, and helping deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare ingredients and assist with the cooking and plating of meals.
• Cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Ensure excellent presentation of meals before service.
• Maintain proper food storage, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
• Support team members to ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.

Shift Details (subject to change):

• Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday
• Shifts scheduled across breakfast and dinner periods
• Part-time position, minimum 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be available.

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation):

Monday - Friday: $27.08 per hour
Saturday: $33.85 per hour
Sunday: $40.62 per hour

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Minimum 12 months experience as a cook or in a similar kitchen role.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
