Job summary

Go Sushi X Pty Ltd in Darwin NT is seeking a qualified Cook to join our busy Japanese restaurant. The role focuses on preparing and plating dishes, following standard recipes, and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen environment.

You will need a Certificate III (or IV) or 3+ years of relevant cooking experience, and be available for weekdays and Saturdays including shift work. Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Follow standard recipes while preparing assigned items for food service.
• Cook all dishes as specified on the menu, including seasoning and portion control.
• Plate and garnish food items before table service.
• Replenish the section after service and prep for the next service.
• Assist with ordering from suppliers and checking deliveries.
• Follow safe and sanitary food handling practices according to local laws.
• Maintain a clean, positive and professional kitchen environment.

Duties and responsibilities:

• A preferred understanding of Japanese food, but this can be taught to the right candidate
• Carefully follow standard recipes while preparing assigned items for food service
• Cook all dishes as specified on the menu, including seasoning and portion control
• Plate and garnish food items before table service
• Following service, replenish the section by prepping for the next service
• Support senior kitchen staff (Sous or Head Chef) with ordering from suppliers, accepting and checking deliveries, checking prep and training new staff
• Follow safe and sanitary food handling practices according to local health and state laws
• Maintain a clean, positive and professional environment with co-workers and customers

Skills and experience required:

• Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, Certificate IV, or at least three years of relevant experience as a Cook
• Ability to work weekdays and Saturdays, including shift work
• Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply
