The Cook reports directly to the Sous Chef, working in a vibrant, hands-on environment that emphasises flawless product execution, safety, and creativity. Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean working environment while preparing food in line with quality expectations and fluctuating volumes
  • Consistently maintain a thorough knowledge of the entire menu, including an understanding of all base products and ingredients used
  • Ensure food presentation meets menu requirements and kitchen standards (SOPs)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and be able to use a broad range of cooking and food preparation equipment and skills, such as sauté, braising etc
What we are looking for
  • High volume culinary experience
  • Can-do attitude and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Ability to work a rotating roster including nights and weekends
About you

You bring experience in high volume kitchen environments and sound knowledge across all sections. With comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and OH&S standards, you take pride in keeping your section stocked and tidy. You understand the importance of working as part of a team and support by ensuring all preparation for your section is in line with service for the day and adheres to food safety requirements.

Your role will be pivotal in shaping the success of our Banquets Team at The Star Sydney.
