VMCH is seeking a qualified Chef/Cook for a part-time weekend role at Bacchus Marsh. If you have a passion for providing high-quality meals to residents in aged care, we want to hear from you.

You will hold relevant certifications and have experience in food safety, staff supervision, and delivering appetising meals. Availability for Saturday and Sunday is essential to join a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or higher.
• Food Safety Supervisor Training (Health & Community) - HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005 and HLTFSE007.
• Experience supervising staff in a food services environment.
• Excellent communication and compassionate residents interactions.
• Commitment to teamwork and working with minimal supervision.
• Ability to promote a positive lifestyle environment and meet deadlines.

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Chef/Cook looking for a change of pace, if you have a passion to work within the aged care sector we would love to hear from you.

About you

You will hold relevant certifications and have a comprehensive understanding of Food Safety Laws and Occupational Health and Safety in a kitchen environment. You will have demonstrated experience in all facets of food preparation including managing a team, menu planning, preparation of daily meals ensuring they are fresh, well‑presented and appetising. Furthermore, you will possess the following:

• Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or higher
• Food Safety Supervisor Training (Health & Community) - HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005 and HLTFSE007
• Experience working in a food services environment and in the supervision of staff
• Interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with residents, families, employees and volunteers; patience; common sense and an understanding of client service
• Commitment to work as part of a team and without supervision
• Ability to be self‑motivated and to promote a positive lifestyle environment
• Well-developed prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to operate with discretion and to maintain complete confidentiality
• Availability to work Saturday and Sunday each week is essential for this role
