Job summary

BHP is seeking a Belt Technician to support Carrapateena's underground and surface MHS conveyors. The role emphasizes safe operation, housekeeping, and proactive maintenance to meet production targets.

Based in South Australia with 8/6 and 7/7 rosters, you will work FIFO from Adelaide or Port Augusta, collaborating across maintenance teams and using SAP for job history and task tracking. Priority on safety and effective communication across levels.

Qualifications

• Background as a Conveyor Belt Technician or Conveyor Scraper Technician.
• Strong knowledge of conveyor belt systems including belt tracking, skirting, and cleaners/scrapers.
• Experience performing routine inspections and maintenance reporting.
• Exposure to working at heights and confined spaces.
• Proven experience working around conveyors systems.
• Commitment to safety and wellbeing; speak up when others put themselves in harm's way.
• Extensive experience driving a manual vehicle.
• IT, Bobcat, riggers, dogging and crane tickets advantageous, but not essential.
• Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines.
• SAP experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Integrate with Maintenance counterparts to ensure effective, pro-actively planned maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Ensure daily operational tasks are completed and job history recorded in SAP.
• Monitor conveyor belt operation, identifying issues and escalating to maintenance team in timely manner.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards for all the equipment.
• Assist where required in the permit to work system, including helping update documents relating to specific tasks.
• Provide continual feedback to the Shift Maintenance Supervisors on job progress.
