Job description

Take ownership of contracts and commercial risk across major construction and infrastructure projects.

Mesh & Bar is looking for an experienced Contracts Administrator and Projects Lead to join our team in Glendenning.

Working within the reinforcing steel and construction supply industry, this is an opportunity to take ownership of the contractual and commercial side of project delivery — reviewing contracts, identifying risk, managing variations and claims, and ensuring our commercial position is protected from tender through to final payment.

You’ll work closely with our Sales, Estimating, Operations, Finance and project teams, with the support of our Group Legal team for complex or higher‑risk matters.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Reviewing customer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and commercial terms before acceptance
  • Identifying contractual and commercial risks including liquidated damages, liability, indemnities, retention, security, insurance, payment terms, time bars and set-off
  • Preparing contract risk summaries, departures and proposed amendments
  • Negotiating practical commercial outcomes with customers and escalating complex legal matters to Group Legal when required
  • Managing variations, payment claims, contractual notices and extension of time requests, including relevant Security of Payment requirements
  • Leading the contractual handover of awarded projects and ensuring key obligations are understood across Sales, Estimating, Detailing, Production and Logistics
  • Monitoring scope changes, design revisions, delivery requirements and price movements to ensure variations are captured and documented
  • Supporting project documentation and compliance requirements for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors and infrastructure clients
  • Attending project meetings and site visits where required
  • Maintaining accurate contract registers, project correspondence, key dates and commercial records
  • Providing management with visibility of contract risk, variations, claims, project status and cash flow
Requirements
  • Strong experience with variations, payment claims and contractual notices; confidence dealing with internal stakeholders, clients and contractors
  • Excellent written communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail; and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors, reinforcing steel, steel fabrication, precast or construction materials would be highly regarded
  • Qualifications in construction management, engineering, law, commerce or a related discipline are advantageous but not essential
  • A current driver's licence is required as the role will involve regular project/site visits
Benefits

This isn't a role where you'll simply process paperwork.

You’ll have the opportunity to become a key commercial resource within the business, working across significant construction and infrastructure supply contracts while being supported by an experienced internal Legal team.

If you have a strong grounding in contracts and project delivery and are looking for an opportunity where you can take genuine ownership and continue to grow your experience, we'd like to hear from you.

Mesh and Bar is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and identities.

Prospective candidates will be required to provide proof of legal work rights and may be required to undertake relevant, role-appropriate pre-employment screening.

If you require any reasonable adjustments to participate in the recruitment process at any stage, please let us know.
