Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking an Engineering Designer to join the Road Design team on a fixed-term full-time contract. You will contribute from early planning and analysis through to detailed design and construction of roads, drainage and related works.

The role emphasizes practical, sustainable, community-focused solutions and collaboration across stakeholders. You will lead investigations, prepare concept and final designs, and manage design projects using Council's framework.

Qualifications

• Certificate and/or Diploma or associate degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Construction Design, or equivalent.
• Proven ability to develop practical design solutions for roads, drainage and related civil infrastructure works.
• Proven ability and experience in project management of design projects.
• Utilise experience in design and project management to mentor less experienced designers.
• Detailed working knowledge of CAD using AutoCAD and 12D or similar.
• Suitable post qualification experience in investigation design and estimating of roads and drainage works.

Responsibilities

• Lead project investigations, prepare concept and final designs, and manage design projects.
• Design and estimate civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, car parks and shared paths.
• Collaborate with internal teams, service authorities, government departments and the community to achieve integrated outcomes.
