Overview

As a Contract Officer you support the entire contract lifecycle from set‑up to close‑out, helping to manage a diverse array of suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Undertake market analysis.
• Participate in end‑to‑end procurement processes.
• Administer contracts, negotiate, establish, and manage them.
• Build productive and respectful relationships with suppliers.
• Establish, negotiate, and manage contracts within the department’s framework.
• Maintain productive relationships with suppliers and stakeholders across government.
• Provide advice on investment specifications, QA systems, and accountability.
• Monitor service delivery and ensure compliance with contracts, guidelines, and legislation.
• Conduct care service inspections including site inspections.
• Identify, monitor, and remediate supplier performance issues and raise them when necessary.
• Negotiate renewals, variations, and terminations of contracts.
• Collaborate with internal business areas to ensure value and quality of delivery.
• Prepare briefs, plans, quotes, correspondence, and reports in a timely manner.
• Commit to ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
• Represent the department at forums with stakeholders and suppliers.

Requirements

• Possession or ability to obtain a Queensland Public Safety Blue Card.
• Travel is required, including to remote communities.
• Current “C” Class driver’s licence.
• Formal procurement, purchasing or contract management accreditation (e.g., Queensland Purchasing, QGCPO, CIPS) is well regarded or ability to obtain it.
