Job summary

Buildability Group is seeking a Contract Manager to lead the commercial team on a brand new $260m project for a blue chip client. You will oversee a team of 5 CAs, drive contract administration from tender to completion, and ensure value, risk control and timely reporting on a major Sydney project.

The role requires deep head-contract knowledge, extensive experience with commercial construction from $100m-$300m, and exceptional client management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, construction management or civil engineering.
• 15–20 years experience negotiating and letting contracts across trades.
• Strong knowledge of the head contract.
• Experience on commercial projects from $100m–$300m.
• Local experience, preferably Sydney or Australia.
• Excellent client management and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Jobpac or CHEOPS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• In-depth understanding of, and the ability to manage, all facets of the head contract and subcontract process from tendering through preparation and letting, payment, and post project completion.
• Proficient in all contractual matters and the ability to communicate this knowledge to the project team.
• Administer projects ensuring accuracy of records and timely communication of all project details.
• Assist the Senior Project Manager with project financial reporting and analysis.
• Develop an understanding and working knowledge of project planning and programming.
• Train, mentor and coach Contracts Administrators in administration duties and systems; coordinate their activities to deliver project outcomes.
• Ensure safety compliance on site within your roles and responsibilities.

WHAT'S ON OFFER

This builder has a strong reputation for delivering complex detailed award winning projects. You will lead a full team of 5 CA's to help drive this project home for this repeat client.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• In-depth understanding of, and the ability to manage, all facets of the head contract and subcontract process. This begins at tendering through preparation and letting, payment, and post project completion
• Proficient in all contractual matters and the ability to communicate this knowledge in a practical and meaningful way to the project team
• Understand and comply with the company business systems. Administer projects ensuring accuracy of records and timely communication of all project details
• Assist the Senior Project Manager with project financial reporting and analysis
• Develop an understanding and working knowledge of project planning and programming
• Train, mentor and coach Contracts Administrators in administration duties and systems. Coordinate their activities to develop them, and to deliver project outcomes
• Ensure safety compliance on site within your roles and responsibilities

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Tertiary qualification in either Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Civil Engineering
• Minimum 15-20 years previous experience, where you've negotiated and let contracts across a range of trades
• Strong knowledge of the head contract is critical
• Solid knowledge of subcontract tendering, standards, procedures and the competitive market
• Experience on construction projects in Commercial from $100m - $300m
• Must have local experience, preferably in Sydney or other Australian States
• Exceptional client management skills
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in Jobpac or CHEOPS is advantageous
