Job description

Content Writer (SEO) – Work From Home, 2–3 Days a Week

Monaco Solicitors is an Australian personal injury law firm. We’re looking for an experienced content writer who can make complicated legal topics easy to understand, and write pages that rank and bring in enquiries.

We compete for some of the toughest Google search terms in Australian legal, including medical negligence, workers compensation and TPD claims.

Our content matters to the people reading it. Many are dealing with serious injuries, lost income or medical treatment that went wrong. Good information can help them understand their rights. Get something wrong, particularly a legal deadline, and it could cost someone their chance to claim compensation.

About the role

Monaco Solicitors is an Australian personal injury law firm. We’re looking for an experienced content writer who can make complicated legal topics easy to understand, and write pages that rank and bring in enquiries.

We compete for some of the toughest Google search terms in Australian legal, including medical negligence, workers compensation and TPD claims.

Our content matters to the people reading it. Many are dealing with serious injuries, lost income or medical treatment that went wrong. Good information can help them understand their rights. Get something wrong, particularly a legal deadline, and it could cost someone their chance to claim compensation.

What's in it for you
  • $36,000–$48,000 for two days a week, or $54,000–$72,000 for three days a week, including super. Equivalent to $90,000–$120,000 full-time, with opportunities for pay rises and performance bonuses.

  • Choose two or three days a week, arranged your way: Work them as full days, or spread the same hours across four or five weekdays.

  • Flexible hours: Work a standard 9am–5:30pm day if you prefer, or arrange your hours around when you work best. Start early, finish late, or work a few hours in the morning and the rest in the afternoon or evening. We just need some availability during business hours for meetings.

  • Work from home anywhere in Australia, or from our Sydney head office if you prefer.

  • Paid professional development: Courses, training and tools that help you become a better writer.

What you'll do
  • Create content: Blog posts, detailed guides, FAQs, pages explaining our legal services and landing pages for Google Ads.

  • Find opportunities: Research what people search for, study competing websites and recommend topics worth writing about. Sometimes we'll give you a topic; other times you'll find it yourself.

  • Improve existing content: Audit, rewrite and expand pages to improve Google rankings, organic traffic and conversion rates.

  • Research thoroughly: Check legal facts against reliable sources, going directly to legislation, court decisions and regulatory guidance where appropriate.

  • Publish and measure results: Manage content in WordPress and monitor how it performs. The number of pages you produce matters, but more importantly, we want to see that work translate into more visitors, stronger rankings and more enquiries.

You’ll work with a small team. Our SEO specialist is your first port of call for keyword research, performance data and advice on helping your content rank. Our Head of Marketing guides the overall strategy, is available to discuss ideas and give feedback, and makes sure you have what you need to do your best work. Our lawyers and business owner provide legal expertise and review your work.

What we're looking for
  • An experienced writer: You've made a career out of writing and have plenty of published work to show for it. This isn't a first writing job.

  • Strong SEO skills: You understand search intent, keyword research, on-page optimisation and how to write content that competes in Google.

  • Independence: You'll have support when you need it, but we're looking for someone who can work independently without needing a detailed brief for every article.

  • Excellent research skills: You can make sense of complicated information, check the facts and explain things clearly.

  • A desire to keep improving: You enjoy writing and actively look for ways to get better at it.

Experience writing about law, finance, insurance, healthcare or other research-heavy subjects would be an advantage. So would a qualification in journalism, law, communications, English or marketing, but your writing ability matters far more to us than your qualifications.

Using AI properly

We expect you to be good at using AI, not just familiar with it.

That means using it at every stage: researching the topic, picking apart what already ranks, then turning it on your own writing. Have it read your draft, argue against your ideas, find the weak spots and suggest improvements.

Used properly, AI won’t make your writing faster. It’ll make it better, and that usually takes longer: dozens, sometimes hundreds of prompts, with your own writing and judgement leading the way.

If your process is a few prompts and a long lunch, we’ll know. Our Head of Marketing works with AI every day and can spot it a mile off.

It’s fine to ask AI a legal question, but find the original source and confirm the answer before it goes on a page.
