Job summary

Global Career Networks Limited is seeking experienced Sonographers for an established diagnostic imaging provider in Melbourne’s north-west.

This hands-on role requires broad clinical ultrasound across abdominal, obstetric, vascular and MSK, with the ability to complete worksheets and provide preliminary findings.

Applicants should have at least 5 years post-qualification experience, ASAR accreditation or eligibility, and strong communication with diverse patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ post‑qualification clinical experience as a Sonographer.
• Current hands‑on scanning experience (within the last 12 months).
• Able to scan independently without direct supervision.
• Able to complete structured ultrasound worksheets.
• Able to provide preliminary findings to the reporting radiologist.
• Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work with patients from diverse backgrounds, including limited English.

• Obstetric ultrasound including first trimester, NT, morphology, and growth.

Carter Wellington Global Recruitment Group is urgently seeking experienced Sonographers for an established diagnostic imaging provider in Melbourne’s north-west.

This is an immediate recruitment requirement for highly experienced, broad-scope Sonographers who are confident working independently across general, obstetric, MSK and vascular ultrasound.

The client is looking for Sonographers who can provide a genuinely comprehensive clinical service rather than candidates whose experience is limited to a single area of ultrasound.

The Opportunity

The successful Sonographer will join an established diagnostic imaging service and work as an independent practitioner within a multidisciplinary clinical environment.

You will be expected to perform a broad range of ultrasound examinations, complete your own structured worksheets and provide preliminary findings to the reporting radiologist.

This is a hands‑on clinical role and current scanning experience is essential.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

• Minimum 5 years’ post‑qualification clinical experience as a Sonographer
• Current or recent hands‑on scanning experience, with clinical practice within the last 12 months
• Able to scan independently without direct supervision
• Able to complete your own structured ultrasound worksheets
• Able to provide preliminary findings to the reporting radiologist
• Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable communicating with patients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including patients with limited English
• ASAR accreditation or eligibility to obtain ASAR accreditation
• A sonography qualification recognised by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR), or a qualification that is likely to be recognised following assessment

Clinical scope – essential (must be competent and currently performing all of these)

• General abdominal and renal
• Pelvic, transabdominal and transvaginal
• Obstetric, including first trimester, nuchal translucency, morphology and third trimester growth
• Small parts: thyroid, scrotal, neck, soft tissue lumps
• Musculoskeletal: shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, Achilles, wrist, elbow, tendons and soft tissue
• Vascular: lower limb DVT, carotid, and lower limb arterial
• Musculoskeletal intervention
• Breast ultrasound
• Advanced vascular: renal arteries, upper limb, ABI, vein mapping, fistula assessment
• Eyes

Internationally Qualified Sonographers

The client will consider suitably qualified international Sonographers where their qualification is recognised by ASAR or is likely to be recognised following assessment.

Examples of qualifications that may be considered include:

ASAR accreditation or eligibility to obtain ASAR accreditation is essential.

Please note that Sonographers in Australia do not register with AHPRA. Professional accreditation is through the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR).
