Spinner Medical seeks a Consultant Psychiatrist in Older Age Psychiatry to deliver comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and treatment for older adults across inpatient and community settings. The role includes supervising junior doctors, registrars and trainees, and leading a patient-centred, team-based care approach.

Qualifications

• FRANZCP or equivalent qualification is highly regarded.
• Experience in older persons psychiatry across hospital, community and telehealth.
• Demonstrated leadership in a multidisciplinary team context.
• Strong communication and teaching abilities; experience with undergraduate and postgraduate learners.

Responsabilités

• Provide comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of older adults with complex mental health conditions in various settings (acute inpatient and community).
• Supervise, assess, and teach junior doctors, registrars and advanced trainees.
• Apply patient-centred, team-based care models in daily practice.
• Contribute to service development, utilisation and effectiveness and participate in clinical governance initiatives.
• Support ongoing professional development and advocate for junior colleagues’ growth.

• Location: Bundaberg, SubtropicalQueensland.
• Package: Up to $573k plus oncall, recall, penalty shift allowances.
• Job: Consultant Psychiatrist in Older Age Psychiatry.

The service provides care in a beautiful region of Queensland and has developed sophisticated models of care which are consistent with both national Australian standards and which are also responsive to the needs of this community. Emphasis is put on collaborative, multidisciplinary care and a culture of best practice which is inclusive of families and carers , with a strong focus on relapse prevention. The mental health service also provides inpatient services which are supported by a 20 bed community care unit, a 10 bed step up step down sub-acute unit. Additional community mhs are provided throughout the region.

Package highlights

• Base salary.
• Plus 50% private practice allowances.
• Professional development allowance $23k.
• MV allowance $23k - $28k depending on years of experience.

Selection criteria includes but is not limited to

• FRANZCP or equivalent. Advanced cert of old psychiatrist or specialist quals in old age psychiatrywould be highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in older persons psychiatry across a range of settings such as hospital, community and telehealth.
• A collaborative approach to your work .
• Ability to provide leadership in a multidisciplinary team context and to collaborate as a team member.
• First class communication skills.
• Experience in quality improvement, risk management, peer review and audit activities.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in undergrad and postgraduate teaching.
