Job summary

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust invites applications for a Consultant in Anaesthesia with a special interest in Perioperative Medicine. The post offers 10 Programmed Activities (8.5 Direct Clinical Care including 0.5 PA on call) and 1.5 Supporting Professional Activities, with a draft plan to be reviewed after 6 months.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate perioperative experience at fellowship or consultant level, including anaesthesia for complex orthopaedic and spinal

Qualifications

• Fellowship or consultant-level experience in perioperative medicine.
• Experience in anaesthesia for complex orthopaedic and spinal deformity surgery.
• Active involvement in clinical governance, teaching and research.

Responsibilities

• To join the team of consultant anaesthetists who provide anaesthesia at RNOH
• To provide pre and post-operative care
• To participate in the teaching of trainee anaesthetists
• To participate in postgraduate academic meetings of the anaesthetic department and departmental audit
• To attend consultant administrative departmental meetings
• To undertake audit of personal practice
• To improve service delivery and participate with clinical governance in line with local and national guidelines
• To undertake research
