Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead HV substation projects in South Australia. Based in Underdale with work across SA, you will oversee the full construction lifecycle, coordinate site teams, and ensure safety and delivery aligned with program and client expectations.

Tender input and constructability reviews are part of the role. You will bring extensive HV infrastructure construction experience, leadership of field teams, and strong capabilities in resource planning,

Lead delivery of HV substation projects across SA managing teams' safety and construction outcomes in a growing utilities business!

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Construction Manager to join our Energy and Utilities business in South Australia, supporting the delivery of high voltage substation projects.

Based on Underdale with project work across South Australia including Reeves Plains, you will play a critical leadership role in managing the full construction lifecycle across multiple complex projects.

This role will see you leading site-based teams, coordinating resources and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with program and client expectations. You will also support tender development, constructability reviews and ongoing project delivery outcomes.

We are seeking a strong people leader with proven experience in delivering large scale high voltage infrastructure projects.

You will bring:

• Electrical Trade Qualification
• Diploma in Project Management - Highly regarded
• Extensive experience in construction management within HV electrical infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to lead field teams and manage multiple projects concurrently
• Strong capability in resource planning, subcontractor management and procurement processes
• Experience managing safety, quality and environmental requirements within a live project environment
• Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills across clients, subcontractors and internal teams
• Strong problem solving, organisational and communication skills
