Job summary

Programmed GO in Canberra is seeking an experienced HSE professional with a strong construction background. The role focuses on maintaining high safety standards across major construction projects and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation.

The successful candidate will lead HSE initiatives on site, develop plans and deliver training, with mandatory Australian Citizenship and NV2 security clearance eligibility, working five days onsite.

Qualifications

• Proven HSE/WHS experience in construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and construction safety requirements.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Proficient in developing and reviewing SWMS and JHAs.
• Excellent communication with project managers, supervisors and workers.

Responsibilities

• Lead health, safety and environmental culture across construction activities.
• Provide HSE guidance to project teams and contractors.
• Develop, implement and maintain HSE plans and systems.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Identify hazards and implement control measures.
• Monitor WHS compliance with legislation and project requirements.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Support SWMS/JHA development and reviews.
• Monitor subcontractor HSE compliance and reporting.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety trainings.
• Drive continuous improvement across HSE practices.
