Capricornia Catchments is offering a 24-week, full-time, paid Ecosystem Restoration Management Traineeship across the Capricorn Coast and surrounding regions. You will gain nationally recognised qualifications while contributing to real-world restoration projects.

The program combines hands-on site work—beach, creek, bushland rehabilitation—with classroom training and safety skills, including certificates listed. Applicants must be 15+ and not enrolled in school.

Conservation & Ecosystem Management Traineeship

Capricornia Catchments – 24 Week Paid Traineeship

Capricornia Catchments is seeking motivated, environmentally minded individuals to join our Ecosystem Restoration Management Traineeship program.

This is a 24-week, full-time, paid traineeship where you'll gain nationally recognised qualifications while working on real-world environmental restoration projects across the Capricorn Coast, Rockhampton, and surrounding regions.

What You'll Gain

• Construction White Card (CPCCWHS1001)

• First Aid & CPR (HLTAID011)

• ACDC Agricultural Chemicals Licence
  (AHCPMG301, AHCCHM304 & AHCCHM307)

• Biosecurity Vehicle Washdown Certificate (AHCBIO203)

• Working with Children Blue Card if eligible

• Applicants must be 15+ years of age and not enrolled in school to be eligible for this traineeship

This program is designed to build practical, job-ready skills for those looking to enter the environmental, land management, or conservation industries.

Real Projects. Real Impact.

Trainees gain hands‑on experience working on meaningful projects, previous trainees have worked on projects such as:

• Various beaches including Lammermoor Beach and Kemp Beach rehabilitation works

• Oxford Road Creek rehabilitation

• Moores Creek revegetation

• Beach clean‑ups and coastal fencing projects

• Supporting the Capricorn Caves forest revegetation project

• Supporting Konomie Islands revegetation efforts

• Planting for fish habitat improvement and erosion control at Mt Morgan Dam

• Mt Archer revegetation project

You won't just be studying — you'll be actively restoring local ecosystems and contributing to lasting environmental outcomes.

What a Typical Fortnight Looks Like

• On-site practical work across beaches, creeks, bushland and community restoration sites

• Activities may include planting native species, weed control, fencing, erosion control, rubbish removal and habitat improvement works

• Approximately one day per fortnight in classroom training, covering theory, safety, chemical use, plant identification and industry knowledge

This balance ensures you develop both hands‑on skills and the knowledge required to succeed in the field.
