Job summary

QT Canberra, part of EVT, is a Daymaker-led hospitality group offering careers across entertainment, ventures and travel. The Conference & Events Sales role focuses on turning enquiries into confirmed bookings and driving revenue for the hotel.

You will manage site visits, handle inquiries within 24 hours and collaborate with Reservations and other departments to deliver seamless events, while building lasting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in conference, events or hotel sales
• Proactive, commercially minded with a drive to win new business and lift revenue
• Working knowledge of hotel systems such as iVvy and Opera
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong organisation and time management, able to juggle enquiries and deadlines
• Collaborative approach to working with teams across the hotel

Responsibilities

• Manage conference and events enquiries from first contact to confirmation
• Run proactive and reactive sales activity to meet the hotel's Conference & Events budget
• Handle calls and online enquiries, book appointments, follow up leads and turn them into confirmed business
• Host site inspections for clients and third-party providers
• Upsell and suggestively sell additional items to lift event revenue
• Keep iVvy up to date with sales activity, client details, tentative and confirmed bookings and invoices
• Maintain a clean, accurate database of key contacts and clients for future campaigns
• Work with Reservations on room blocks and with other departments to deliver seamless events and repeat business
• Respond to all enquiries within 24 hours, building strong client relationships
• Track reasons for lost business, record them in iVvy and flag insights to management so QT stays competitive
• Prepare regular and ad hoc reports for the local leadership and Group Sales teams
• Support accurate C&E sales forecasting and stay across local and EVT national C&E campaigns

• Run proactive and reactive sales activity to meet the hotel's Conference & Events budget
• Handle calls and online enquiries, book appointments, follow up leads and turn them into confirmed business
• Host site inspections for clients and third-party providers, showcasing the hotel's spaces with confidence
• Upsell and suggestively sell additional items to lift event revenue
• Keep iVvy up to date with sales activity, client details, tentative and confirmed bookings and invoices
• Maintain a clean, accurate database of key contacts and clients for future campaigns
• Work with Reservations on room blocks and with other departments to deliver seamless events and repeat business

What you'll bring:

• Proven experience in a similar conference, events or hotel sales role (wedding experience is a bonus)
• A proactive, commercially minded approach, with a drive to win new business and lift revenue
• Working knowledge of hotel systems such as iVvy and Opera
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and confidence presenting to clients
• Strong organisation and time management, with the ability to juggle multiple enquiries and deadlines
• A collaborative approach to working with teams across the hotel
• Resilience and a positive outlook when working under pressure
• A genuine focus on guest experience and customer satisfaction
