Job summary

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, part of the BMW Group, invites placement students to join the Exterior Surface Centre. You will gain hands-on experience from day one, contributing to data quality improvements, KPI reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance surface finish quality.

The placement offers exposure to agile environments, the chance to work with modern data tools, and opportunities to learn from industry experts while supporting production and planning teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Interest in information systems technology.
• Drive to create unconventional solutions and ideas.
• Ability to contribute to and be part of a motivated team.
• Awareness of Agile Working methodology.
• Fluent English is essential; German beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative solutions to improve data quality processes.
• Create and compile KPI reports.
• Liaise with production partners and support departments.
• Analyse and present data to support surface finish quality development.
• Adapt CAQ systems to support production processes.
• Coordinate with planning, logistics and production to improve quality and transparency.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Goodwood, West Sussex (UK) – Computer Aided Quality Technician, Exterior Surface - Placement Year (July 2027)

We in the Exterior Surface Centre supply our customers with the pinnacle in automotive surface finishing. Our class leading team of experts apply state of the art methods & materials to realise our customer’s dreams.

What awaits you?

• Developing innovative solutions to continuously improve data quality processes.
• Developing and compiling key performance indicating reports.
• Liaising with production partners and supporting departments.
• Analysing and presenting data and quality characteristics to support further development of surface finish quality.
• Adapting computer aided quality systems and methods to support production processes.
• Liaising with support functions such as planning, logistics and the production functions with respect to, improving product quality and information transparency.

What should you bring along?

• Studying towards a Bachelor’s degree - preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or other relevant field.
• Interested in information systems technology.
• Drive to create unconventional solutions and ideas.
• Ability to contribute to and be part of a motivated team.
• Awareness of the Agile Working methodology.
• Fluent English is essential; a working knowledge of German would be beneficial.
• Very good PC skills, an interest in 'low code' development (Microsoft Power apps, SQLdeveloper, Oracle Apex or similar Data analysis tools).
