Job description

Tiimely is a platform technology company that has transformed how Australians access credit. Our proprietary technology automates financial assessment and credit decisioning, enabling faster, more accurate outcomes across a range of use cases, and is licensed by large banks, fintechs, and ASX-listed brands.

Headquartered in Adelaide with a national team of 100, we're on a mission to transform how Australians access credit through cutting-edge technology and a human-first approach. Our values are Time to be Human, Time to Take Responsibility, Time to Be Transparent, and Time to Build Good Bonds and these values shape how we build products and how we work together.

The position

We're looking for a Compliance Manager to join our Risk and Compliance team, reporting to the Chief People & Risk Officer. As our enterprise partnerships grow, we're investing further in our second line and expanding our compliance capability.

Our compliance obligations span regulatory requirements under our Australian Credit Licence, contractual commitments to partners, and industry standards.

In this role you'll lead the compliance function and strengthen Tiimely's compliance management framework and programs. You'll work in close partnership with our Risk Manager and subject matter experts within the business.

This is a hands on, highly connected role. You'll work across every function, advising and supporting leaders, while lifting compliance capability and maturity as we scale.

Your other responsibilities will include:

  • Own and evolve Tiimely's Compliance Management Framework as the complement to our Risk Management Framework, designed with reference to recognised standards such as ISO 37301 and proportionate to our business.
  • Own compliance policies and supporting procedures, and advise the business on the maturity path from current state to target state, including the tooling and systems needed to get there.
  • Own a comprehensive obligations register covering legal and regulatory obligations, contractual obligations to our funders and brands, and applicable industry standards, with ownership and evidence of compliance assigned across the business.
  • Monitor regulatory, contractual and industry change, assess the impact on Tiimely, and lead the business response.
  • Design and operate compliance programs proportionate to the risk attached to each obligation, and establish monitoring and testing that reports on the effectiveness of controls.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, reporting and remediation of compliance incidents and breaches.
  • Own Tiimely's compliance assurance program, providing evidence to management, the Board and our partners that obligations are being met.
  • Represent Tiimely to our enterprise partners on compliance matters, including due diligence questionnaires, annual assurance requirements and partner site visits, drawing on internal subject matter experts where specialist input is needed.
  • Coordinate compliance input into external audits and reviews, working alongside internal owners accountable for ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certification activity.
  • Transition into the role of Tiimely's Privacy Officer, accountable for our privacy program under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, including privacy impact assessments and data breach response.
  • Act as the trusted point of advice to the business on compliance queries.
  • Design and deliver compliance training and awareness activity, and coach leaders to build capability and confidence across their teams.
  • Report Tiimely's compliance position to executive and Board audiences.
What We're Looking For
Required
  • Demonstrated experience owning or operating a compliance management system or compliance program, ideally within a regulated environment.
  • Practical knowledge of the component parts of a strong compliance management system, and the judgement to shape one that is right for a business of our scale and operations.
  • Proven ability to read a set of regulations, a contract or an industry standard, interpret it accurately, and hold a plain language conversation about it with someone who is not a compliance specialist.
  • Experience preparing and presenting compliance reporting to executive, Risk Committee or Board audiences.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple teams and functions, building relationships and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
  • A genuine interest in coaching others and building capability, so compliance is understood and owned across the business rather than held in one place.
  • Confidence to challenge constructively, ask the right questions, and have the harder conversation when it's needed.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic, scaling business where priorities evolve.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to present complex compliance matters clearly to executive and Board audiences.
  • Background in financial services, lending, or another regulated industry, including an APRA regulated entity or the holder of an Australian Credit Licence or Australian Financial Services Licence.
  • Experience with privacy management programs and working knowledge of the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
  • Exposure to recognised compliance management standards such as ISO 37301, or to assurance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
  • Experience responding to partner, client or investor due diligence and assurance requirements.
  • A background in legal, risk management or audit, having moved into a compliance focused role.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance compliance analysis, reporting, or process efficiency.
What's in it for you?
  • Competitive remuneration package with employee share plans that reward individual and company success.
  • Broad exposure across every function, and to our enterprise partners including large banks and ASX-listed brands.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
  • Ongoing learning and development to support your professional growth.
  • A modern office environment designed for a scaling fintech.
  • A supportive and inclusive team culture backed by our values-driven approach.

This role is based in Adelaide. We're looking for candidates who are based in, or open to working from, Adelaide, with full working rights in Australia.

While this is a permanent full-time role, we would consider part time at 0.6FTE or above for the right person.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Even if you don't tick all the boxes, we encourage you to apply.
