Bayside Group is seeking candidates for eight positions within the Australian Electoral Commission’s Regulatory Division, across compliance and investigations at APS5 and APS6 levels.
The work focuses on political funding and financial disclosure. You will review financial information, identify potential non-compliance and contribute to assessments or investigations that need to be accurate, clearly documented and defensible.
The roles
APS5 Compliance Officers | 2 positions
Working under general supervision, you will review financial disclosure returns for accuracy, completeness and compliance with legislation. You will also assess election funding claims, undertake related reviews and enquiries, and support the accurate processing of funding payments.
APS6 Senior Compliance Officers | 3 positions
You will independently review financial disclosures and undertake more complex compliance assessments. Your responsibilities will include coordinating funding assessment and payment processes, analysing information to identify compliance risks, and providing guidance to junior staff.
APS5 Investigations Officers | 2 positions
You will support investigations by gathering, analysing and documenting information, including financial records. Working under general supervision, you will identify gaps and potential risks, use data and intelligence tools, and prepare briefs, reports and correspondence to support decisions.
APS6 Senior Investigations Officer | 1 position
You will conduct investigations into potential anti-avoidance schemes using a risk-based approach. This includes analysing data and intelligence, preparing briefs and recommendations, contributing to improvements in policies and procedures, and guiding junior investigators.
About you
We are looking for people who can assess information carefully, recognise issues and explain their findings clearly.
Relevant experience may come from government, a regulator, audit, financial services or another environment involving compliance assessments, financial assurance or investigations.
You will ideally bring:
For the APS6 positions, you should also demonstrate experience independently handling complex assessments or investigations and providing guidance to less experienced colleagues.
For compliance roles, qualifications or relevant experience in accounting, commerce, finance or related fields are highly desirable.
For investigations roles, a Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or willingness to undertake the qualification with AEC support, is highly desirable.
