Job summary

Kmart Group in Melbourne is seeking a Compliance and Optimisation Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will lead governance and continuous improvement of Profit Protection processes across stores and functions, shaping risk controls and policy updates.

You’ll partner with Operations, Risk, Technology and Legal to drive digitisation of stocktake programs, strengthen merchandise protection standards, and deliver practical changes that are easy to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail operations, risk, compliance or process improvement.
• Strong understanding of retail processes and controls.
• Ability to assess risk and translate findings into practical actions.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects.
• Analytical mindset with data-driven decision making.
• Clear communication to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot, lookups, formulas, charts).

Responsibilities

• Support contract owners with privacy, contractual and operational compliance across relevant supplier arrangements.
• Use store process metrics, shrink insights and reporting to guide decisions and prioritise improvement opportunities.
• Influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to embed consistent, effective ways of working.

Join our Profit Protection team and help strengthen the processes, standards and insights that support safe, compliant and efficient retail operations. As Compliance and Optimisation Manager, you’ll work across stores and support functions to improve governance, identify operational risk and turn data into practical action.

This is an opportunity to shape high-impact work, including the early stages of a multi-year stocktake digitisation program, the ongoing development of merchandise protection standards, and stronger central governance of Profit Protection processes and policies.

You’ll partner with stakeholders across Operations, Risk and Compliance, Technology, Legal and Merchandise to deliver improvements that are meaningful, sustainable and easy for teams to apply.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity.

What you’ll be doing

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

• Experience in retail operations, risk, compliance, process improvement or a related role.
• A strong understanding of retail processes and operational controls.
• Demonstrated ability to assess risk, improve compliance and translate findings into practical business solutions.
• Experience leading projects or change initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience using reporting and data to inform decisions.
• Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas and charts.
• Profit Protection experience is beneficial, but not essential.
