Job summary

HWLE Lawyers in Brisbane is seeking a Lawyer/Senior Associate to join our growing Corporate & Commercial team, focusing on Competition and Consumer law. You will work closely with the Competition partner on merger assessments, regulatory notices and advisory matters, gaining exposure to blue‑chip clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years PAE in Competition & Consumer practice.
• Strong drafting and communication skills.
• Experience advising on commercial/regulatory matters.
• Ability to deliver pragmatic legal advice.
• Collaborative mindset with mentoring attitude.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex competition issues in transactional settings, including merger filings and ACCC engagement.
• Assess competition risks in transactions and propose pragmatic strategies.
• Respond to regulatory notices and advise on risks under the Competition and Consumer Act.
• Draft and negotiate key commercial documents with clients.
• Collaborate with disputes and corporate teams on related matters.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to business development.
