Job summary

Uniting NSW & ACT is seeking a Pastoral Practitioner to provide person-centred pastoral and spiritual care at Hamlyn Terrace. You will walk alongside older residents and families, offering listening, companionship and spiritual support within a multidisciplinary team.

Working with the Mission team, you’ll foster compassion, respect and inclusivity, honouring diverse faiths and life stories while maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in pastoral care, chaplaincy or related field.
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent formation desirable or required as specified in the position description.
• Ability to work across Uniting sites when required.
• Compassionate, empathetic and respectful approach to working with older people and families.
• Ability to engage in conversations about faith, spirituality, loss, ageing and end-of-life.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one pastoral, spiritual and emotional support to residents and their families.
• Support residents and families through grief, illness, transition, ageing and end-of-life.
• Develop meaningful relationships recognising each person's life story, culture and beliefs.
• Offer spiritual and religious care within the Christian tradition while respecting diverse faiths.
• Collaborate with the care team to support residents' holistic wellbeing.
• Facilitate or support pastoral gatherings, memorials, prayer and reflection opportunities.
• Maintain pastoral care records and documentation.
• Participate in supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
