Job summary

Help at Hand Support Services is seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team and help make a difference in the lives of people with a disability. You will provide person-centred support, with days varying from outings to the beach or cinema to medical appointments or home companionship.

A calm, empathetic approach and reliable, flexible attitude are essential. Requirements include a current Police check, Cert III in Disability or above, Working with Children check, First

Qualifications

• Must have Certificate III in Disability or above
• Current Working with Children Check
• First aid/ CPR certificates (current)
• Full and clean Australian driver’s license
• Own insured vehicle
• Police check (within 6 months)
• Be punctual, reliable and flexible
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Empathetic and proactive with a genuine interest to work in this field
• Ability to self-supervise and stay calm in crisis situations

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support based on each client’s needs
• Assist with outings and activities (beach, cinema, games) and accompany to events
• Take clients to medical appointments and provide companionship at home with a cup of tea
• Maintain clear communication with clients and the team to ensure quality care
