Job summary

Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) in Garran is seeking a dedicated Support Service Employee to join our housekeeping team at a residential aged care facility. The role covers cleaning, kitchen, and laundry duties within a friendly, not-for-profit provider delivering quality care.

You will work full time on a fixed-term basis for six months to cover for a Cleaner, with duties including cafe assistance and adherence to food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role (laundry or cleaning will be highly regarded).
• Genuine compassion, commitment and enthusiasm.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to manage and prioritise work tasks in a timely manner.
• Empathy towards the elderly and respectful of their needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, professional, and attentive service to residents, families, staff and visitors.
• Engage respectfully with older adults, understanding their needs and preferences.
• Ensure high standards of food service, cleanliness and courtesy to residents.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and infection control standards.
• Assist with domestic duties including cleaning, kitchen, and laundry tasks.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and manage storage, benches and floors.
• Perform laundry duties to support facility operations.
• Support ad hoc tasks around the facility to assist residents and staff.
