Job summary

Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking a Community Activation Officer to focus on local engagement and building resilience for the community recovering from the January 2026 fire events. Based in Bannockburn/Meredith, with easy access from Geelong, Ballarat and Melbourne, the role offers hybrid work and flexible hours.

You will coordinate partnerships with agencies, plan and evaluate recovery programs, identify funding opportunities, and support community-led events that strengthen connection

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated experience in Community Development, Community Engagement or Emergency Management.
• Established stakeholder engagement skills and ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Understanding of rural community issues including social and health and wellbeing, resilience and/or emergency management.
• Ability to work across multiple Council departments and with external agencies on diverse projects.
• Experience with external grant funding and delivering KPIs.
• Knowledge in development and delivery of community events.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate partnerships with state, regional, and local agencies to deliver recovery services.
• Work with stakeholders to plan, implement, and evaluate programs for the post-fire community.
• Support development and delivery of community-led recovery events and programs.
• Identify funding opportunities and assist or lead funding applications for bushfire recovery.
• Develop work plans and budgets with activities, timelines, and performance indicators.
• Facilitate regular meetings on community recovery requirements, status, and reporting.
