Job summary

Capital Region Community Services Ltd in Canberra is seeking a Community Development Support Officer to help plan, promote and deliver community activities and events across Connect Up and Involve programs. This permanent part-time role is 20 hours per fortnight and focuses on reducing isolation and building social connections.

You will work with participants, volunteers and staff to ensure activities are safe, inclusive and enjoyable, while assisting with administration, marketing and community

Qualifications

• You will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience engaging and supporting people from diverse communities.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to inclusive, strengths-based and community-led practice.
• Current Driver Licence and access to a registered insured vehicle.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a National Criminal History Check.
• Availability to work flexible hours including later in the evening and weekends.
• Qualifications in Community Development, Community Services, Social Work, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
• Experience supporting community, social or recreational programs.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• Experience with community engagement, promotion or event coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of community activities, groups and events.
• Support participants to feel welcome, included and connected.
• Work alongside volunteers and help support their onboarding and engagement.
• Assist with program administration and record keeping.
• Help promote activities through community networks and communication channels.
• Identify and report risks, hazards or incidents.
• Contribute ideas to improve programs and community engagement opportunities.
