Job summary

Western Sydney International Airport is seeking a Community Engagement Advisor for a 6-month maximum term, site-based within the Corporate Affairs team. You will coordinate community engagement activities, respond to inquiries, and build strong relationships with residents, businesses and groups impacted by airport development and operations.

This role requires 3–4 years in community engagement or related fields, excellent communication skills, and a current NSW Driver Licence.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years' experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, communications, or corporate affairs, ideally within infrastructure or major projects.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver community engagement and communication materials for diverse audiences.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with internal and external groups.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with ability to translate complex information into clear messaging.
• Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to undertake occasional out-of-hours and weekend work.
• IAP2 accreditation is highly regarded.

• Represent community interests by collaborating with internal teams and contributing to decisions affecting local communities.
• Identify engagement risks and opportunities to support project outcomes and community expectations.
• Support implementation of Corporate Affairs and Community Engagement strategies and initiatives.
• Champion safety, compliance, and best-practice engagement across all interactions.
• Contribute to a collaborative, agile team environment and support ad hoc projects.

Come and join the team delivering Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI), the lynchpin of the extraordinary transformation currently underway to stimulate investment and develop high-quality career opportunities across Western Sydney.

An airport that represents the future of aviation, Western Sydney International will open to international, and domestic passenger services very soon and will eventually grow to become the city's primary airport and one of Australia's biggest gateways to the world.

About the role:

This position sits within the Community function of the Corporate Affairs team, reporting to the Executive Manager - Community. It's a site-based role with responsibility for coordination and support of operational readiness, operations and community engagement activities.

Please note this is a 6-month maximum term position.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of community and stakeholder engagement programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and project commitments.
• Coordinate community consultation activities, forums, meetings, communications, and engagement initiatives across construction and operational phases.

• Deliver community engagement campaigns, project notifications, and communications that keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, businesses, community groups, and key stakeholders impacted by airport development and operations.
• Represent community interests by collaborating with internal teams and contributing to decisions that affect local communities.
• Identify engagement risks and opportunities, providing insights that support project outcomes and community expectations.
• Support the implementation of Corporate Affairs and Community Engagement strategies, programs, and initiatives.
• Champion safety, compliance, and best-practice engagement across all community interactions.

About You

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
• 3-4 years' experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, communications, or corporate affairs, ideally within infrastructure, construction, or major projects.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver community engagement and communication materials for diverse audiences.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience building effective relationships across internal and external groups.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible messaging.
• Strong organisational, administration, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative, adaptable, and solution-focused approach, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to organisational values.
• Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to undertake occasional out-of-hours and weekend work.
• IAP2 accreditation is highly regarded.
