Job summary

Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) seeks a Technician - Underground Communication to install, maintain and troubleshoot underground networks at Sepon. You will support reliable connectivity for remote bogging, autonomous haulage and IoT systems as mine development progresses.

You will install fibre and copper cabling, switches and wireless gear, diagnose faults, support RCT and AutoMine, and work with OEMs and IT teams to ensure continuous operations in challenging underground conditions.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or diploma in telecommunications, electronics, networking or related field.
• At least three years' hands-on communications or industrial network maintenance experience, including underground mining exposure.
• Experience installing, commissioning and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks; knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, and industrial Wi‑Fi.
• Experience supporting remote equipment or IoT communications; RCT or Sandvik AutoMine experience is desirable.
• Strong fault finding, communication and safe work practices; radio, leaky feeder, CCTV and fibre splicing experience is advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to meet underground access and continuous-shift requirements; networking or OEM training desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, test and maintain fibre and copper cabling, switches, APs, antennas and equipment.
• Diagnose network faults and restore service quickly to minimise downtime.
• Provide first-line comms support for RCT and AutoMine; escalate faults to owners/OEMs.
• Maintain IoT gateway and telemetry connectivity with system owners.
• Monitor network health, alarms and perform planned inspections.
• Extend and relocate communications infrastructure per designs; verify coverage before handover.
• Support radio, leaky feeder, personnel tracking and CCTV connectivity.
• Apply network configurations, access controls and change procedures; maintain backups.
• Maintain drawings, records, asset/spares, incident logs; collaborate with IT/OEMs to resolve repeats.

Chifeng Gold's Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. This role is based in Laos PDR.

Reporting to the Superintendent - Information Technology, the Technician - Underground Communication will install, maintain and troubleshoot underground communications networks at Sepon. The role will support reliable connectivity for remote bogging, autonomous haulage and underground services, including RCT, Sandvik AutoMine and IoT systems, as mine development advances.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Installing, testing and maintaining fibre and copper cabling, industrial switches, wireless access points, antennas and communications equipment
• Diagnosing network, wireless coverage and device connectivity faults and restoring service safely to minimise operational disruption
• Providing authorised first-line communications support for RCT and AutoMine and escalating machine, application and control faults to system owners or OEMs
• Maintaining IoT gateway and telemetry connectivity in collaboration with Electrical, Instrumentation and technology system owners
• Monitoring network health and alarms and completing planned inspections and preventive maintenance
• Extending and relocating communications infrastructure to approved designs and verifying coverage and service before handover
• Supporting radio, leaky feeder, personnel tracking and CCTV connectivity within assigned responsibilities and authorisations
• Applying approved network configurations, access controls and change procedures and maintaining backups and recovery arrangements
• Maintaining drawings, network records, asset and spares registers, incident logs and shift handovers and working with IT and OEMs to resolve repeat faults

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Trade certificate or diploma in telecommunications, electronics, networking, instrumentation or a related field; equivalent relevant practical experience may be considered
• At least three years of hands-on communications or industrial network maintenance experience, including underground mining exposure
• Proven installation, commissioning and troubleshooting experience across wired and wireless networks, with knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, VLANs and industrial Wi-Fi
• Experience supporting remote equipment or IoT communications; direct RCT or Sandvik AutoMine experience is desirable
• Strong fault finding, communication and safe work practices; radio, leaky feeder, personnel tracking, CCTV and fibre splicing experience is advantageous
• A valid driver's licence and ability to meet underground access, fitness-for-work and continuous-shift requirements; networking or OEM training is desirable
