We’re seeking a dynamic Communications Coordinator to join the Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU) team! As the industrial voice for over 48,000 public sector educators across Queensland, we’re looking for someone to lead our communications efforts and strengthen our member engagement.

About the Role

As our Communications Coordinator, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping and delivering the QTU’s message across various platforms. You’ll oversee a talented team of specialists and work closely with external media providers to ensure our member voices are heard loud and clear.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist external media providers to deliver consistent messaging across digital platforms, media, campaigns, and projects.
  2. Implement internal and external communication strategies.
  3. Ensure digital platforms are monitored and responses are consistent with narratives and messages.
  4. Develop compelling narratives for member collateral and hard copy publications.
  5. Maintain consistent QTU branding across all platforms.
  6. Identify and manage emerging issues.
  7. Lead a team of communications professionals.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication skills, especially in delivering complex concepts.
  • Experience in member/customer engagement and digital platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
  • Leadership skills to manage a team that may work remotely.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in public relations, communications, or journalism is preferred but not essential.
