Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Advanced Diploma or trade qualification in HVAC/refrigeration/electrical).
• Data centre commissioning experience is highly regarded; training available for right candidate.
• Strong knowledge of data centre mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems to meet performance, reliability and safety specs.
• Manage multiple commissioning programmes with engineers, contractors, vendors and clients to stay on track.
• Establish and maintain QA processes, document commissioning activities, and perform inspections and audits for compliance.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure smooth handover readiness and train operations staff.
• Keep abreast of new tech and industry trends to improve commissioning efficiency.

Mechanical / Electrical Commissioning Managers - Data Centres

Permanent | Competitive Salary + Super + Bonus

I'm partnering with a specialist commissioning business that’s growing fast on the back of a strong pipeline of new data centre projects across Australia. They're looking for Mechanical and Electrical Commissioning Managers to lead commissioning and handover on some of the most technically advanced facilities being built in the country.

This is a hands-on, technical role where you'll own the process from start to finish and make sure critical infrastructure performs exactly as it should on day one. You'll also be working alongside some of the best people in the industry.

What you'll be doing

• Leading commissioning: You'll coordinate and deliver commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems, making sure every component is fully tested and meets performance, reliability and safety requirements. Knowledge of ASHRAE commissioning processes will be well regarded.
• Running multiple projects: You'll manage several commissioning programmes at once, working closely with engineers, contractors, vendors and the end client to keep everything on track and to a high standard.
• Driving quality: You'll set up and maintain robust QA processes, documenting all commissioning activity and carrying out inspections and audits to identify and resolve issues while keeping everything compliant.
• Collaborating and training: You'll work across teams to ensure smooth integration and may help train operations and maintenance staff so they're ready to run the facility from handover.
• Improving the process: You'll keep across new technology and industry trends and bring ideas that make commissioning more efficient and effective.

What my client is looking for

• A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience such as an Advanced Diploma or a trade qualification in HVAC, refrigeration or electrical
• Data centre commissioning experience is highly regarded, though candidates from similar project or commissioning roles will be considered, and training is available for the right person
• Strong knowledge of data centre mechanical and electrical infrastructure
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a wide range of stakeholders
• Someone who enjoys a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
