Job summary

Southport Sharks is seeking a Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a Full-Time basis. You will work alongside experienced chefs to develop your skills in a busy, multi-outlet environment on the Gold Coast.

Ideal candidates bring experience in a fast-paced kitchen, a practical understanding of the Food Safety Act, and a reliable, flexible approach to rosters. You will contribute to delivering high-quality meals while maintaining safety and hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a multi-faceted kitchen.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Act and hygiene standards.
• Ability to adapt to a flexible roster and fast-paced service.

Responsibilities

• Work in a busy venue with high service standards.
• Maintain sharp attention to detail in food prep and presentation.
• Ensure recipes and standards are followed for quality and consistency.
• Produce high quality meals for customers using creative cookery.
• Monitor food quality and hygiene, report deviations to the Sous Chef.
• Promote safe work practices in the kitchen.
• Coordinate with Sous Chef and Executive Chef to maintain service standards.

About the Role …

We are seeking an experienced Commis Chef to work on aFull-Time basis within a tight knit team you'll be working alongside chefs with years of knowledge to further develop your skillset.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Working in a busy venue
• Keeping a sharp attention to detail
• Ensure that food standards, preparation, presentation and cooking techniques are carried out according to established recipes and standards.
• Utilise your creative expertise in cookery to produce high quality meals for customers.
• Monitor food quality and ensure policies and hygiene standards are maintained, reporting any deviations to the Sous Chef
• Promote safe work practices in the kitchen
• Liaise with Sous Chef, Chef D'Partie, Executive Chef regarding service standards

Preferred skills and experience:

• Experience in a multi-faceted kitchen
• Experience in Food Safety Act
• Reliability and availability to work a flexible roster
• Ability to work well under pressure
