Job summary

Weir is seeking a Mechanical Fitter – Comminution in Hazelmere, WA. The role covers repairs and maintenance on HPGR, screens and cone crusher equipment at customer sites and in workshops, with hands-on service and field support across the APAC region.

You will join a team focused on safety, reliability and sustainable growth, with a mix of workshop and on-site duties, requiring reading technical docs, and ability to work with customers on site.

Qualifications

A minimum of 3–4 years relevant technical/trade experience.
Experience with heavy specialised equipment such as HPGR, hydraulic and rotating equipment preferred.
Hydraulic knowledge desirable.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedures.
Available for a mix of workshop and field work.
Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with HPGR team across site facilities and APAC clients.
Perform on-site service, maintenance, repairs and testing per scopes of work.
Suggest equipment improvements to reduce total cost of ownership.

Coordinate with Area Managers for timely installation and commissioning.

The Comminution Technician is responsible to carry out repairs and maintenance on Weir HPGR, screens and cone crusher equipment on customer sites and the workshop as both a fitter and a hands‑on site service technician in addition to managing clients within the APAC region to establish and implement a sustainable growth of the allocated Comminution business unit.

What You’ll Do

Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
Collaborate with the HPGR team across site, Perth, and Port Hedland facilities, while managing APAC regional clients to drive sustainable growth for the HPGR business unit.
Deliver on‑site service and customer support, ensuring maintenance, repairs, fault diagnosis, and testing are completed as per defined scopes of work.
Identify and recommend equipment improvements to the Service Manager to help reduce customers’ total cost of ownership (TCO).
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, addressing concerns and ensuring service expectations are consistently met.
Provide technical guidance to the Site Service Supervisor on service and component requirements for contracts and support preventative maintenance to minimise plant downtime.
Coordinate with Area Managers to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and commissioning activities, while demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative, customer‑focused approach.

What You’ll Bring

A minimum of 3–4 years relevant technical/trade experience (Minimum Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering)
Experience working on heavy specialised equipment such as high‑pressure grinding rolls, hydraulic and rotating equipment is highly preferred
Hydraulic knowledge is desirable
Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Be available for a combination of workshop and field work.
Valid Drivers License
