Job summary

Kingfisher Bay Resort on K’gari is seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to develop their culinary career, prepare quality meals and help deliver memorable dining experiences across our resort outlets.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will work with a supportive kitchen team to maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene and safety in a high-volume, multi-outlet resort environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Food Safety Course essential; Responsible Service of Alcohol desirable.
• Experience in a high-volume, multi-outlet resort/hotel kitchen.
• Strong organisational and time management skills under pressure.
• Positive can-do attitude with good communication and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve general and specialised meals for guests according to menu guidelines.
• Maintain excellent hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in the kitchen.
• Support quality, presentation and timely delivery of meals across resort outlets.
• Work collaboratively with Kitchen team and Food & Beverage staff.
• Assist with kitchen prep, stock management, baking, pastry and butchery duties as required.

About the Opportunity

Join our vibrant kitchen team at Kingfisher Bay Resort on beautiful K'gari. We're looking for a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef who is ready to develop their culinary career, prepare quality meals and help deliver memorable dining experiences for guests across our resort outlets.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head Chef, the Commis Chef is responsible for preparing, cooking and serving general and specialised meals for guests in line with menu guidelines, recipes and Kingfisher Bay Resort standards. You will work as part of a supportive kitchen team across resort outlets, helping maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and safety.

Key Role Requirements

• Prepare, cook and serve general and specialised meals for guests according to menu guidelines, recipes and direction from the Head Chef.
• Maintain excellent hygiene, cleanliness, food safety and Workplace Health & Safety standards in the kitchen.
• Support quality, presentation and timely delivery of meals in line with Kingfisher Bay Resort standards and company policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with Food and Beverage Attendants, Apprentices, Kitchen Stewards and the broader Kingfisher Bay Resort kitchen team.
• Assist with kitchen preparation, stock management, stocktake, baking, pastry cooking and butchering duties as required.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

• Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery, such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Food Safety Course essential, with Responsible Service of Alcohol desirable.
• Previous experience in a high-volume, multi-outlet resort, hotel or commercial kitchen environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and within set guidelines.
• A positive can-do attitude, excellent communication skills, strong presentation standards and a passion for creating quality cuisine.
