Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to lead commercial delivery across energy, infrastructure and water projects. The role focuses on guiding commercial strategy, risk management and stakeholder engagement to ensure successful project outcomes.

Based in Perth with exposure to renewables and energy storage, you will mentor team members, manage contracts, and drive governance and reporting across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in commercial management, contract management and procurement.
• Strong exposure to renewable energy, energy storage, infrastructure and water sectors.
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts, manage commercial risk and lead disputes.
• Experience mentoring Contracts Administrators and Contract Managers.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, quantity surveying or construction management.

Who are we looking for?

We're seeking a Commercial Manager to join our Delivery Phase Services (DPS) Commercial team, based in Perth, Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior client-facing commercial professional to lead commercial delivery within renewable energy, energy storage, infrastructure and water sector. Working alongside clients and project teams, you will provide strategic commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle, helping to manage risk, optimise commercial outcomes and support successful project delivery. The role will also contribute to the continued growth and capability of GHD's DPS Commercial team.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Driving tender, procurement and pre-contract commercial strategies to support successful project outcomes
• Leading commercial negotiations, contract formation and supplier engagement activities
• Identifying, assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks while ensuring compliance with client and corporate governance requirements
• Developing and implementing contract management frameworks, commercial controls, reporting processes and governance systems
• Providing commercial advice and leadership to clients and multidisciplinary project delivery teams
• Partnering with project stakeholders to manage claims, variations, commercial disputes and contractor performance
• Supporting the administration and commercial management of major contracts throughout project delivery
• Building trusted relationships with clients, contractors and key project stakeholders
• Mentoring and developing Contracts Administrators, Contract Managers and other commercial team members
• Contributing to the growth, continuous improvement and broader commercial capability of the DPS Commercial team.

What you will bring to the team:

• Significant experience in commercial management, contract management, procurement or a related discipline
• Experience working across renewable energy, energy storage, infrastructure and water sector.
• Strong experience in contract negotiation, contract administration and commercial risk management
• Demonstrated ability to manage claims, variations and complex commercial issues
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide practical and strategic advice to clients and project teams
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills
• Experience mentoring and supporting commercial or contract administration personnel
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, quantity surveying, construction management or a related discipline.

This role is ideal for an experienced commercial professional looking to combine strategic advisory capability with hands-on project delivery while supporting clients on some of Australia's most complex infrastructure and energy projects.
