Job summary

SEEK is seeking reliable, hardworking people to join our evening/night cleaning team in Canberra. You will maintain cleanliness and hygiene of commercial/industrial facilities to keep environments safe and welcoming for employees and visitors.

This casual role offers evening/night shifts (9pm onwards) with potential for regular ongoing hours. Expect competitive casual rates, training and development opportunities, and a supportive workplace committed to health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial/industrial cleaning preferred.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform repetitive tasks.
• Reliability and punctuality are essential.
• WWVP clearance or willingness to obtain one may be required depending on facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties including scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting of commercial and industrial spaces.
• Clean, scrub and sanitise bathrooms, kitchens and other facilities to maintain high hygiene standards.
• Empty waste bins and dispose of rubbish appropriately.
• Clean windows, glass surfaces and mirrors to ensure streak-free clarity.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure consistency.
• Report maintenance issues or damage to management promptly.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental regulations while performing tasks.
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors and other team members.
• Complete cleaning tasks within allocated timeframes to meet client expectations.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of commercial and industrial facilities, ensuring they remain safe, professional, and welcoming environments for employees and visitors. Your work will be fundamental in upholding the reputation of our clients and creating spaces where people can work productively.

The work is active and can be physically demanding, so we’re looking for people who are comfortable being on their feet, working at a steady pace and maintaining a high standard throughout the shift.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in commercial or industrial cleaning environments
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards
• Physical fitness and ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift moderately heavy items
• Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work flexibly around casual scheduling
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and professionalism
• A valid Driver's Licence is advantageous for some positions
• Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance or willingness to obtain one may be required depending on the facility
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices in cleaning operations
