Job summary

The Commercial Estimator at FMS Field Mining Services Group in Mackay will lead cost estimation across fabrication, mechanical works and major equipment shutdown projects. You will review scopes, drawings and tender docs to prepare accurate, competitive estimates and quotations.

We seek a commercially minded professional with experience in mining or heavy industrial sectors, able to manage multiple tenders, liaise with suppliers, and contribute to profitable project delivery in a busy team.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or technical background in mechanical fitting, boilermaking, fabrication or related discipline.
• Experience estimating for mining, engineering or heavy industrial sectors.
• Experience preparing tenders and quotations for shutdowns, maintenance or project works.
• Experience using estimating software or commercial project management systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for fabrication, mechanical and major equipment shutdown projects.
• Review project scopes, drawings, specifications and tender docs to determine requirements.
• Calculate labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs to develop detailed estimates.
• Prepare quotations, tenders and pricing submissions in line with client and project requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability of materials and services.
• Work with internal teams to understand project requirements, resources and delivery timeframes.
• Identify risks, cost variations and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Review costs to ensure estimates are competitive and achievable.
• Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing documentation.
