SGS Australia is seeking a Casual Coal Technician based in Mt Thorley, NSW. The role involves day, afternoon and night shifts, with manual handling of samples up to 15+ kg. You will perform coal testing, sampling at client sites, and ensure accurate recording of results in SGS quality systems.

As part of a fast-paced team, you will receive on-the-job training to meet analytical methods and HSE standards, with some travel to client sites and rosters that require flexibility and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Coal sampling and testing experience is advantageous.
  • Unrestricted driver's license and reliable transport are mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible schedule to cover various shifts.
  • Ability to keep pace with significant manual handling and labor.
  • Forklift license and high-risk work ticket desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Collection of samples from client mine site washeries.
  • Recording, sorting and storing coal samples as required.
  • On-the-job training to meet compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems & onsite HSE Standards.
  • Day to day upkeep of equipment.
  • Delivery of samples to both internal and external customers.

SGS Australia is looking for Casual Coal Technician in Mt Thorley, NSW.

Flexibility is critical as you may be required to complete day, afternoon and/or night shifts on weekdays or weekends. Please note, this role involves significant regular manual handling of samples up to 15+ kg throughout your shift.

Working as part of a fast-paced, team, you will be responsible for:

  • Accurately conducting physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples, including crushing, weighing, drying, milling and sieving.
  • Collection of samples from client mine site washeries.
  • Recording, sorting and storing coal samples as required.
  • On-the-job training to meet compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems & onsite HSE Standards.
  • Day to day upkeep of equipment.
  • Delivery of samples to both internal and external customers.
Qualifications

Previous coal sampling and testing experience would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will also have:
