Job summary

ALS Energy in Bowen seeks a Casual Coal Quality Tester to join the Ports team at Abbot Point Coal Terminal. You will be trained as a Coal Quality Tester and become part of the Ports team, based in Bowen.

Reporting to Ports Supervisors, you will conduct analytical tests, manage sample handling and data entry, and work a flexible 12-hour roster including day and night shifts. Training is provided and pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening are required.

Qualifications

• Safe, quality-focused mindset essential.
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills required.
• Basic computer skills including spreadsheets required.
• Willingness to perform manual handling duties.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work is carried out safely and to SOPs.
• Enter validated results into the reporting system.
• Perform a range of analytical tests including Total Moisture.
• Conduct physical tests: sample prep, crushing, dividing and storage.
