Job summary

Brisbane City Council – South Brisbane QLD is seeking an experienced Coach and Body Builder / Boilermaker to manufacture, repair, maintain and modify fleet vehicles and equipment. Join a professional workshop team delivering safe, compliant assets for operational use in Brisbane.

You will work on body repairs, fabrication and restoration, contribute to safety initiatives and support apprentices in a dynamic full‑time role based in Wacol.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Bus, Truck and Trailer Manufacture or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Experience in coach building, body building, boilermaking or vehicle body repair.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Experience guiding apprentices.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Experience completing job-related administration, including quoting or estimating repair work.
  • Basic computer skills or ability to acquire them.
  • Current C Class driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake body repairs, fabrication, maintenance and modifications on vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Manufacture and repair vehicle bodies, panels and associated components to required standards.
  • Work safely and contribute to Council's Zero Harm culture and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Assist in the technical training and development of apprentices.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors and customers to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Complete job-related administrative tasks including requisitions, job documentation and quoting activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient work area.

Fleet Solutions branch provides full lifecycle management of the fleet assets deployed across Council to support the delivery of services to the City of Brisbane. We maintain and repair a diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and specialised equipment used across a wide range of operational services.

We are seeking an experienced Coach and Body Builder / Boilermaker to undertake the manufacture, repair, maintenance and modification of fleet vehicles and equipment. Working as part of a professional workshop team, you will perform a broad range of body repair, fabrication and restoration tasks to ensure fleet assets remain safe, compliant and available for operational use.

This is an excellent opportunity to apply your trade skills across a diverse fleet, work in a safe and supportive environment, and contribute to the delivery of essential services for Brisbane residents.

In this role you will:
  • undertake body repairs, fabrication, maintenance and modifications on vehicles, plant and equipment
