Job summary

Department of Health WA External Careers seeks a Chief Medical Information Officer to lead WA’s EMR program, aligning regional needs with statewide digital health strategy. You’ll influence how care is delivered across rural and remote settings and work with senior clinical, digital and executive leaders to shape a safer, more connected health system.

You will guide systems design, workflow optimisation and clinician experience, with a focus on patient safety and governance.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Fellowship of an Australasian Specialist Medical College or equivalent specialist qualification recognised by the Medical Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and proven ability to influence organisational change and technology adoption.
• Contemporary knowledge and experience in clinical systems design and workflow optimisation.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Strong conceptual and analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Sound understanding of patient safety, clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management principles.

Responsibilities

• Represent WA Country Health Service within the State-wide EMR Program and ensure regional needs are reflected in system design.
• Collaborate with clinical, digital and executive leaders to design safer care systems.
• Lead and influence across complex environments to deliver digitally enabled healthcare improvements.
