Job summary

Vertali APAC Pty Ltd in Canberra seeks a Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) Engineer to lead CPD installations and automation within a complex OpenShift environment. The role focuses on CPD upgrades, Helm deployments, and scripting to improve operations.

Applicants must be Australian citizens with Negative Vetting Level 1 and at least 3 years local CPD engineering experience. Hybrid onsite/offsite work in Canberra is available.

Qualifications

• Experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) including IKC and Manta.
• Strong knowledge of OpenShift, Helm, Kubernetes and GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience with cpd-cli, CASE packages, and CPD upgrades.
• Scripting skills in Bash or Python; aptitude for automation and GitOps.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure IBM CPD 5.3.1 on OpenShift environments.
• Enable Helm deployments and use cpd-cli for image digests and CASE files.
• Implement GitOps deployment pipelines in GitLab to automate CPD upgrades.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot CPD/OpenShift and deployment automation issues.
• Produce technical docs and runbooks for operations.

Job description

We are seeking a highly capable Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) Engineer to join a major transformation initiative within a complex operational environment. This role will play a critical part in ensuring successful adoption of new systems, processes, responsible for the installation, automation, and upgrade of IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) environments on Red Hat OpenShift. This is initially a 3-6-month contract and located in the onsite in Canberra and some remote work.

• All candidates must be an Australian Citizen and must have a minimum of Negative Vetting Level 1, application will not progress without it,
• The requisite skills and experience defined below, and
• At least 3 years of local experience in the capacity of a Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and configure IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) 5.3.1.
• Enable Helm chart deployments and use cpd-cli to generate image digests and service-specific CASE files.
• Implement GitOps deployment pipelines in GitLab to automate CPD upgrades from 5.3.1 to 5.4.x.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts to support operational efficiency and enhanced business functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve CPD, OpenShift, and deployment automation issues.
• Produce technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Mandatory skills

• Experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) including IKC and Manta and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong knowledge of Helm charts, Kubernetes, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience with cpd-cli, CASE packages, and CPD upgrades.
• Scripting skills using Bash, Python, or similar.
• Experience implementing GitOps and deployment automation.
