Job description

An established Australian enterprise is seeking a hands‑on Cloud Operations Engineer to join its collaborative technology team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Azure Engineer who enjoys being close to the technology, solving problems and taking ownership of a business‑critical cloud environment.

We're not looking for someone wanting to step away from engineering into management or architecture. Instead, we're looking for a technically capable, well‑rounded engineer who enjoys a broad remit, is curious about emerging technologies and wants to continue developing their skills within a supportive business.

You'll work closely with a highly experienced Cloud Operations Manager and collaborate with specialists across Cloud, Database Services and Enterprise Integration.

The Role

The environment is predominantly Microsoft Azure, with a combination of cloud and on‑premises infrastructure. Your focus will be on the ongoing operation, reliability, security and improvement of the Azure cloud platform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Hands‑on management and support of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.
  • Troubleshooting cloud networking, connectivity, firewalls and security issues.
  • Supporting production environments, resolving incidents and improving platform reliability.
  • Developing and maintaining automation using tools such as PowerShell and Ansible.
  • Supporting DevOps practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitoring infrastructure health, improving observability, dashboards and alerting.
  • Contributing to cloud cost optimisation and FinOps activities.
  • Working collaboratively with Cloud, Database and Integration engineers.
  • Exploring practical ways to improve operations through automation and emerging AI technologies.
About You

You'll be a practical, hands‑on engineer who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively and taking ownership.

We're particularly interested in candidates who bring:
  • Solid commercial experience managing and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure in production.
  • A broad understanding of infrastructure, networking, connectivity and cloud security.
  • Experience with scripting and automation, ideally PowerShell and/or Ansible.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices, infrastructure as code and modern cloud engineering.
  • Strong troubleshooting, incident management and root‑cause analysis skills.
  • Some experience with monitoring, operational reliability and cloud optimisation.
  • Excellent communication skills, initiative and a willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team.
  • Exposure to SRE practices, FinOps, observability or AI‑assisted operations would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in engineers who are keen to develop these capabilities.

This role is particularly suited to someone who wants to remain technically hands‑on, broaden their engineering experience and build a longer‑term career within the business.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents with unrestricted working rights. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What's in It for You?
  • Up to $160,000 base salary + superannuation.
  • Performance‑based bonus opportunities.
  • Potential long‑term share incentives, subject to eligibility.
  • Just two days in the Macquarie Park office – Monday and Wednesday.
  • Three days working remotely.
  • Flexible working arrangements to accommodate personal commitments.
  • No formal on‑call roster, with only occasional planned after‑hours work.
  • An established, stable business with a strong national presence.
  • Supportive, technically experienced management.
  • Exposure to Cloud, Data, Integration, automation and evolving technologies.
  • A collaborative engineering environment where initiative and new ideas are encouraged.
Interested?

If you're a hands‑on Azure Cloud Engineer who enjoys variety, technical challenges and the opportunity to grow with a business, we'd love to hear from you.
