TIMG | Freightways Australia ICT in Sydney is seeking a permanent full-time cloud engineer to own Azure-based infrastructure projects. You will build and test cloud foundations, implement IaC, and support migrations with a focus on security, monitoring and cost efficiency.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead, you will collaborate with architecture and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable cloud services across allied brands.

Qualifications

• Experience in cloud engineering, preferably Azure, with ability to build, test and support cloud infrastructure.
• Formal cloud certifications are desirable; knowledge of Terraform or Bicep is useful.
• Ability to script and work with deployment pipelines and hybrid infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned cloud engineering work from definition to deployment and handover.

Job description

TIMG | Freightways Australia ICT | Sydney | Permanent full-time | Primarily onsite

Build cloud infrastructure that is reliable in operation and commercially sound.

Employed by TIMG, you will support Freightways Australia businesses, including Allied Express, TIMG, Shred-X/Med-X and VT Freight Express.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead, you will take ownership of assigned cloud engineering work through solution definition, building, testing, deployment and operational handover, with guidance from infrastructure colleagues and architecture specialists. Azure is the primary environment, with some AWS work as required. Prior AWS experience is desirable rather than essential.

You will collaborate with infrastructure colleagues, Group Architecture and business stakeholders to support critical systems and users.

What you will do

• Build cloud foundations and hybrid connectivity across networking, identity, compute, storage and monitoring.
• Assess workloads and deliver staged migrations with testing, rollback and business readiness checks.
• Build, adapt and maintain infrastructure as code, deployment templates and practical scripts.
• Apply security controls, implement monitoring and test backup and recovery.
• Estimate costs, monitor spend and optimise configurations against business needs, performance and resilience.
• Investigate faults and prepare documentation and operational handovers.

You will use approved architecture patterns and obtain Architecture Review Board approval for departures. Budget approval remains with the appropriate owner.

What you will bring

Practical cloud engineering experience, preferably in Azure, with sound technical foundations and the ability to build, test and support cloud infrastructure. You bring initiative, curiosity and a willingness to develop your skills and take on new challenges.Relevant experience from other cloud platforms is welcome if you can apply it in an Azure-focused environment.

You can demonstrate practical capabilities in cloud infrastructure, hybrid networking, identity and access management, and monitoring and recovery. Basic scripting and infrastructure-as-code skills are required, including the ability to understand, adapt, validate and maintain existing solutions. Complex automation can draw on specialist support.

Formal qualifications and cloud certifications are desirable. Experience with Terraform or Bicep, PowerShell, Git, deployment pipelines and hybrid infrastructure will be useful.

Working arrangements

The role is primarily onsite at Allied Express Bankstown and TIMG South Strathfield in Sydney. It includes shared on‑call participation, occasional after‑hours work and interstate travel as required under agreed arrangements.
