Job description

St John of God Subiaco Hospital with more than 1,200 of WA’s most experienced and respected medical specialists, 2,200 caregivers and 600 beds, our hospital plays a vital role in delivering private health care across the state.

We are renowned for safe, high-quality and values driven care, and combining clinical excellence with compassion, hope and dignity.

We provide a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, including cancer care, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, gynaecology, maternity, orthopaedics, pain services, and urology.

About the role

Reporting to the Research Operations Manager, the Clinical Trial and Data Management Officer are responsible for the day-to-day coordination and administration of approved clinical trials at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. Working closely with clinicians, researchers and study sponsors, you will support the implementation, monitoring and documentation of clinical research activities, ensuring compliance with relevant protocols, regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Your role will also involve accurate data collection, entry and management to support the successful delivery of high-quality clinical trials and research outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of medical research within a leading private hospital, contributing directly to the delivery of clinical trials and the translation of research into improved patient care. You will gain valuable exposure to experienced medical specialists, principal investigators and multidisciplinary clinical teams while developing broad experience across clinical research operations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance and trial delivery. The role offers variety and challenge, combining participant interaction, clinical trial coordination, data management and sponsor engagement.

The role is offered on a 12-month, full-time contract basis, working 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of clinical trial delivery, ensuring compliance with protocols, ethical standards and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
  • Assess participant eligibility, support informed consent processes, and provide ongoing care and education throughout the trial journey.
  • Monitor patient safety, identify and report adverse events or protocol deviations, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, researchers and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and safe trial participation.
  • Coordinate trial monitoring visits and manage the collection, handling and shipment of clinical specimens in accordance with study requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and compliant clinical documentation, patient records and trial data across all stages of the study.
  • Manage the collection, verification and reporting of clinical trial data while ensuring confidentiality, privacy and regulatory compliance.
Your skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you will hold a degree in a health or health-related discipline and possess current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification, along with a sound understanding of clinical research and regulatory requirements. You will be an organised and detail‑oriented professional with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively educate and support patients and their families.

You will demonstrate strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, manage multiple tasks and maintain a high level of accuracy. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, you will bring well‑developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills, together with a commitment to workplace health and safety and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

While not essential, postgraduate qualifications, research experience and previous experience coordinating clinical trials in a healthcare setting will be highly regarded.

Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

All applicants are requested to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.

We can offer you
  • Salary: $92,096 to $108,868 per annum plus 12% superannuation
  • Fixed term full-time 12-month contract.
  • Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as:
  • A healthy work-life balance with purchased leave & well‑being programs
