Job description

The organisation

Possability Group is a national for-purpose organisation delivering disability, child and family services across Australia. Grounded in the belief that freedom and independence are fundamental human rights, Possability supports people with disability, children, young people and families to thrive.

In late 2022, Possability Group and Lifestyle Solutions came together, bringing together two respected human services organisations with deep experience across disability, out-of-home care, child and family services and community-based supports.

In 2025, Possability Group entered into an agreement to join Independence Australia Group, creating a strengthened platform of purpose-led organisations committed to supporting people living with disability, children, young people and families.

Together, the group brings significant national reach, specialist service capability and a shared commitment to human rights, inclusion, safety and self-determination.

The opportunity

The Clinical Psychologist is a senior specialist role within Possability Group’s Child & Family Services portfolio, offering the opportunity to combine meaningful clinical work with broader influence across therapeutic practice.

Working with children, young people, families and carers with complex trauma, disability, mental health and behavioural needs, you will provide specialist assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation. Applying CARE, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and trauma-informed practice, you will support safety, wellbeing, connection and participation.

Beyond direct client work, you will help strengthen how complex clinical needs are understood and responded to across the organisation. You will lead a small team of behaviour specialists, contribute to care planning and multidisciplinary decision-making, review behaviour support plans, support restrictive practice reduction and shape clinical frameworks, policy and practice guidance.

The role has a clear transformation focus, with the opportunity to help shape the clinical team and strengthen Possability’s internal capability to respond to increasingly complex needs. This is an opportunity for a clinically strong psychologist who wants to remain close to clients while extending their impact across teams, services and the broader organisation.

About you

You are an experienced psychologist with demonstrated experience supporting children, young people and/or families with complex needs.

You bring strong capability in psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention, and are comfortable working across trauma, disability, mental health or behavioural presentations. You work well in multidisciplinary environments and can translate clinical insight into practical guidance for care teams, carers and practitioners.

You are drawn to a role that combines meaningful client work with the opportunity to influence broader therapeutic practice. You bring sound clinical judgement, a collaborative style and a clear commitment to child-centred, trauma-informed and evidence-informed care.

An understanding of child protection or children’s services would be valuable, ideally gained through exposure to child and family services, out-of-home care, disability or a related environment. Experience with CARE, TCI, behaviour support, restrictive practice reduction or clinical framework development would also be welcomed.

You will hold current general registration with AHPRA and clinical psychology endorsement, or be eligible to obtain endorsement.

What’s on offer
  • Up to $145,000 base salary plus superannuation
  • Up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits, helping increase take-home pay
  • Flexibility to be based in Sydney or the Hunter
  • Potential support for annual registration or clinical supervision

Please note applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
