Job summary

Royal North Shore Hospital's Child and Adolescent Unit is seeking an experienced Paediatric Registered Nurse to provide clinical leadership as Clinical Nurse Educator. The role is full time for 12 months.

You will contribute to education, research support, and postgraduate qualifications, working with a multidisciplinary team in a 20-bed unit with inpatient ward and outpatient services, including hospital in the home and clinics.

The Child and Adolescent Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is looking for an experienced Paediatric Registered Nurse to provide clinical leadership in the role of Clinical Nurse Educator. The role is full time for 12 months.

It is an exciting time to join the child and adolescent team at Royal North Shore Hospital. We have a 20 bedded inpatient ward, medical and surgical short stay unit, hospital in the home and outpatients services. We cater for children from 0-17 years who are admitted to the unit. Our main specialities include medical, surgical, orthopaedic, ENT, plastics and mental health. We are a welcoming team and offer a supportive fun environment to all staff joining the team. The senior nursing support team includes full time NUM, CNE, CNC and CNS 2’s.

The unit has a strong philosophy of quality improvement and family centred care. Royal North Shore Hospital has a positive culture and actively encourages staff to develop. Support is offered for research studies and post graduate qualifications. The Child and Adolescent Unit consists of a 20 bed inpatient ward with the ability to flex up to 24 beds for patients that require an overnight admission. Short stay area (CASSy) for day procedures, infusions, investigations, surgical day stay and medical short stay. Within the unit we have a paediatric Hospital in The Home service, Paediatric Acute Review Clinic and Burns Clinic which run from the CASSy.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Holds AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse AND holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to practice safe nursing care and knowledge of policies and clinical practice guidelines.
