About NBMLHD

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a recognised leader in the healthcare industry. We provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region. Located in South Bowenfels, the Lithgow Campus is a comprehensive community health centre serving about 20,000 people. Lithgow Hospital services include Domiciliary care unit, Emergency department, Geriatric assessment unit, Obstetric services, Paediatric service, Drug and Alcohol unit.

Role Purpose

Join Lithgow Hospital on a permanent part-time basis as a Clinical Midwifery Educator, a cornerstone leadership role within the maternity team. This position shapes the capabilities and confidence of the midwifery workforce through education, training, and ongoing support.

Responsibilities
  • Identify learning needs, develop targeted programs, and deliver meaningful clinical education at the ward level.
  • Mentor and train staff; direct clinical care is reserved for emergency circumstances only, serving as a model for best-practice care.
  • Provide leadership to nurture future generations of midwives and support excellence in maternity care.
  • Collaborate with the team to promote education, innovation, and community focus.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Current registration to practice as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Relevant clinical/education post-registration qualifications.
  • Recent extensive clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to identify learning needs, plan, develop, deliver and evaluate education.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; capable of working in a consultative manner.
  • Previous experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and/or preceptorship.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Commitment to working with NUM/MUM to establish and maintain a learning environment that values reflective practice.
