Job summary

Medrecruit is assisting a Tasmanian hospital with a fixed-term part-time role to support the Staff Specialist Microbiologist in Infectious Diseases. You will deliver clinical and diagnostic advice to pathology and ID teams and provide leave coverage as needed.

The role requires bench-level microbiology expertise, teaching and research skills, and strong communication of critical results to treating teams, with a focus on biosafety and collaboration with infection control.

Qualifications

• Experience in management of the clinical microbiology service including bench-level advice.
• Experience in communication of critical microbiology results to the treating teams.
• Prepared for regular interaction with the hospital’s infectious diseases service and the infection control unit.
• Teaching and research skills
• Good understanding of laboratory safety

Responsibilities

• Support the Staff Specialist Microbiologist by providing clinical and diagnostic advice to Pathology and the ID physician team.
• Provide leave coverage for the Staff Specialist Microbiologist during periods of absence.
