Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service is seeking a nurse leader to drive development and clinical capability across Normanton, Doomadgee, Mornington Island, Burketown and Karumba. You will partner with the Director of Nursing – Remote Facilities to promote learning and improvements in patient care.

Ideal candidates will have a tertiary nursing degree, current registration, and proven leadership in clinical education, quality improvement and staff development within remote settings.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary nursing degree is required.
• Current nursing registration/licence is mandatory.
• Experience leading and developing nursing staff is essential.

About the role

You will be a key member of the Remote Facilities team, supporting the professional development and clinical capability of nursing staff across Normanton, Doomadgee, Mornington Island, Burketown and Karumba.

Working closely with the Director of Nursing – Remote Facilities and the Professional Practice Support Unit, you'll help foster a culture of learning, excellence and continuous improvement while contributing to better health outcomes for remote communities.

Working with us

• For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085; and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).
• In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
• Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.

• Plus 2 weeks p.a., travel as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.
• We also offer staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Requirements

• Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.
• Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
• This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
• A period of probation may apply.
